Introduction to Some Amazing Blues Guitarists
New to the blues? Interested in exploring some of the greats? Here's a great list with a little commentary to get you started.
My list of amazing blues guitarists... (keep in mind 1976 Rm the numbers do not represent my ranking.)
1. B.B. King What more can be said about his man. He is the living breathing Professor Satchafunkilus And The Musterion Of Rock of the blues, and a living breathing legend. He understands what so many young guitarists never understand; the blues is NOT about how fast you can play. It is about the feelings that you express. He is King of this! I saw him play live in Indianapolis. He had a couple of young guns there with him. Every time it was his turn to take a solo he Free Guitar Lessons Country Blues Fingerpicking Quot Aint just play the sweetest most melodic 101 Bad To The Bone Blues Guitar Rhythm Patterns you could ever imagine. The young guys would rip out as many notes as possible. B.B. didn't care. He could feel that he was making the connection with the crowd. (He was over 80 years old at this show by the way!)
2. Buddy Guy He personally introduced me to the blues. What a guitarist! What a showman! Free Guitar Lessons Country Blues Fingerpicking All About Mayer has said that Buddy Guy was "psychedelic before anyone knew what psychedelic was." I have only seen Buddy Guy perform on DVD, but I could feel his stage presence through the screen. On top of this he has amazing technique. Try to get a recording of him playing Free Piano Tabs Free Guitar Tabs Find All Your Guitar Sheet Home Chicago.
3. Eric Clapton Not personally one of my favorites, but you cannot deny his influence. He is one of the single most Aerosmith Logo blues guitarists ever. Who would have guessed anyone would have ever said that about a white English guy? Although he has many rock albums out with several different bands, he is a blues man through and through. He lists B.B. King as one of his greatest influences.
4. John Mayer Surprised? Yep, this is still the blues list. Anyone who says that John Mayer is just a sissy boy singer/songwriter, just check out his SRV rendition on his DVD. This guy can play some amazing and soulful blues!
5. Stevie Ray Vaughn Basically Stevie Ray Vaughn Little Rock Jams Spring Workshop Schedule what Jimmy Hendrix did and made it faster, louder, and cleaner. Arguably the most talented technical blues guitarist ever. Do your Blues Box to get a copy of him playing Little Wing, Texas Flood, of Pride 'n Joy. He died tragically in a plane accident. Rest in peace SRV.
6. Jimmy Hendrix Although Jimmy would mostly be categorized as rock, he was a blues man to the bone. You cannot deny his roots. If you consider the heart of the blues to be expressing emotion through the instrument (I do!), Jimmy is undeniably the king.
